BPSC 72nd Recruitment 2026, Notification Out for 1,189 Civil Services Posts

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has officially opened the application window for the Integrated 72nd Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2026. This year, the commission aims to fill 1,189 vacancies for prestigious state administrative roles, including Sub-Divisional Officer (SDM), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), and Revenue Officer (RO).

The online registration started on May 7, 2026, and the deadline to submit applications is May 31, 2026. Initially, the commission announced 1,230 vacancies, but the total was later revised to 1,189 after removing 44 Sugarcane Officer posts and adjusting vacancy numbers for other departments.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The selection process involves three distinct phases:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Prelims): A screening test consisting of 150 objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be solved within 2 hours. There is a negative marking of 1/3rd (0.33) mark for every incorrect answer.
  2. Main Examination (Mains): A descriptive written exam totaling 900 marks. Only candidates scoring above the prelims cutoff (selected at a 10:1 ratio relative to total vacancies) qualify for this stage.
  3. Interview: A personality test carrying 120 marks. The final merit list is prepared out of a total of 1,020 marks (Mains + Interview).
